The Northwest Football Awards has today released its nominations for this year's Player of The Year Awards and Latics start Paul Scharner is up there with the best.
Following the massive success of last year's inaugural event, the Award winning Northwest Football Awards returns in 2008 to recognise the region's sporting prowess. The Awards, which recognise the region's accomplishments, both on and off the pitch, will be sponsored by Bank of America.
The prestigious panel of sporting experts, including Gordon Taylor, Maurice Watkins and Paul Thorogood will assemble once again to pick the cream of the footballing crop. The Player of the Year Award will be decided by the public vote and again the Lifetime Achievement Award, an accolade picked up by Sir Bobby Charlton in 2007, will be presented to one of the Northwest's leading football personalities.
The categories, divided into the five leagues, from the Premier League to the Conference League enables football fans across the region to have their say and vote for their Player of the Year, who will ultimately win this year's conveted Northwest Footballer of the Year Award, sponsored by Brown Shipley.
This year's nominated players for the Pemier League Player of the Year are:-
- Kevin Davies - Bolton
- Richard Dunne - Manchester City
- Joleon Lescott - Everton
- Cristiano Ronaldo - Manchester United
- Roque Santa Cruz - Blackburn
- Paul Scharner - Wigan Athletic [VOTE NOW]
