Two in two for Zaki
Newboy Amr Zaki really has got his Latics career off to an absolute flyer, scoring his second winning goal for the club in as many games.
Another sterling performance from the new pie-eating Egyptian saw the Latics cruise to victory in another friendly.
Latics were quick off the mark, making Hibs keeper Andrew McNeill stretch three times in just the opening 10 minutes.
Maynor Figueroa posed a constant threat to the Hibs backline, delivering numerous lethal crosses into the goal area and unleashing a rocket of a shot on the twenty-minute mark, which was too hot to handle for McNeill.
The rest of the first half was much the same with Latics dominating. Hibs striker Colin Nish did have the ball in the back of the net at one point though but it was ruled out for offside.
The best chance of the first half fell to the SPL side though, as striker Colin Nish's header beat Latics 'keeper Carlo Nash, only to be denied by the post.
Hibs brought the game to the Latics early on in the second half and should have taken the lead, Filipe Morias blazed over the bar with space around him.
The winner came shortly before the 70 minute mark. Antoine Sibierski cleverly broke down a Hibs attack releasing Antonio Valencia down the left side. Valencia picked out Zaki in the box who unleashed a fantastic strike with the outside of his boot sending the boys in blue one up.
Another Latics newboy also made an appearance. French trialist Joel Thomas replaced goal scorer Zaki immediately after the Egyptian's strike, which proved to be the decisive moment of the game.
Latics: Nash; Melchiot (Montrose 45), Boyce, Bramble, Figueroa; Valencia, Palacios, Brown (Sibierski 58), Kapo (de Ridder 45); Zaki (Thomas 70), Heskey (King 45).
Subs: Pollitt.
