PRE-SEASON FIXTURES
Latics to Tour Austria pre-season
Steve Bruce and his Latics team will face German Bundesliga sides Eintracht Frankfurt and Hannover 96 on their pre-season training camp in Austria, while there are games at Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday, Hibernian and Dutch side Utrecht .
No pre-season matches have been organised for the JJB Stadium.
Latics kick off their programme with a game against local Austrian side FC St Veit, before facing Eintracht Frankfurt and Hannover 96 as part of their training camp. They spend a total of ten days in Austria.
Domestically, the first chance Latics fans will get to see the team again will be against FA Cup giant killers Barnsley on Tuesday 29th July, the 3rd consecutive pre-season visit to Oakwell. The previous games ended 2-1 and 2-0 to Latics.
Then on August 2nd, Latics face a trip to Hillsborough to face Brian Laws' Sheffield Wednesday, our first appearance at the ground since Latics December 1975 when we lost 2-0 in the FA Cup in. The clubs have never met in the League.
Another first will come three days later as Latics cross the border to face Hibernian at Easter Road. The Edinburgh side, managed by former Bolton striker Mixu Paatelainen, are pushing towards the top of the SPL.
Latics' final warm-up game will be in Holland against First Division FC Utrecht, against whom Latics drew 1-1 in 2006, during their first Austrian pre-season trip.
