VILLA KILLER
Kev eyes a Midlands result
VILLA V LATICS
SAT 03 MAY '08, KICK OFF 3PM
FULL UNINTERRUPTED MATCH COMMENTARY LIVE ON WIGAN WORLD FROM 2.45 PM.
Wigan's Kevin Kilbane says the team want to travel to Villa on Saturday and make themselves safe without having to rely on any "favours" from other teams around them.
"It's still not quite there yet" said Killer, "so we can't be thinking that we're safe and everything's done and dusted, we've got to try and get the points on the board and do it on our own terms.
"Hopefully we can do that, hopefully we have enough about us to do it but we'll see how it goes."
While staying in the Premier League means everything to the Club and the supporters alike, the Republic of Ireland international says it's exactly the same for the players.
"It means everything to us, everybody wants to be playing in the Premier League and you've got to start picking up points at these places and we want to be going to these places week in and week out."
Should results conspire against Latics it could leave them needing to get something from the final game of the season against Man Utd, but Kilbane is not looking that far ahead just yet.
"I'm keeping that scenario at the back of my mind for the minute but it would be an interesting week if it came down to that.
"But first and foremost it's Villa this weekend and the camp is confident.
"We've picked up points away at Liverpool and Chelsea this season which have been highlights but ultimately we haven't been good enough away from home.
"We want to be going to Villa this weekend aiming to pick up something and we'll be full of confidence."
