FANS CAN PLAY THEIR PART - KIRKLAND
LATICS V READING
BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE
SAT 26 APR '08, KICK OFF 3.00PM
TICKETS AVAILABLE UNTIL KICK OFF
Wigan keeper Chris Kirkland is urging Latics fans to get down to the JJB stadium and make themselves heard this Saturday, as Latics look for that 'one last push' to see them over the safety line.
"This is the big one and this is what we've worked hard for" said Chris.
"We've got ourselves into a good position but we've still got to get over that finish line and Saturday is going to be a massive game with the knowledge if we win, we're safe and I'm sure there'll be a few smiles and hand shakes at the end of the game.
Cleaning up: Chris Keeps it Clean against Birmingham
"But we can't take anything for granted, Steve Coppell's a very good manager and Reading are a very good team and they're battling for their lives which makes it that much harder."
The England and Wigan shot-stopper, who has kept five clean sheets in the last six home games, couldn't emphasise enough how much difference that the fans can make on the day.
Box Commander: Kirkie shows safe hands.
"We're asking all the fans to play their part and get behind us because it can make all the difference.
"It is literally like having a twelfth man on the pitch.
"You don't realise just how much difference it makes if you can hear the crowd chanting, shouting and singing, it can make a big, big difference, and this is the weekend that we need it."
