Keith Bertschin enjoyed his first victory as Latics Reserve Team manager as a terrific second half come back sunk Wanderers at Robin Park Arena on Tuesday night.
Bertschin was only able to field a very inexperienced line-up and second half goals from young Poles Tomasz Kupisz and Tomasz Cywka overturned a 1-0 deficit after Temitope Obadeyi's first half penalty had put the visitors ahead at the break.
But the second half turnaround was inspired by Dutch winger Rachid Bouaouzan, who looked extremely lively at times. Bouaouzan's run early in the second half ripped open the Wanderers defence, he looked as if he was going to shoot himself, but fed a delightful ball into the path of Kupisz on the left side, who curled a great finish past keeper Adam Bogdan.
Cywka sealed it with a good individual goal, showing good strength to hold off challenges and poking the ball in from the right after a strong run.
Bouaouzan could have capped off an impressive display with a goal himself late on, but Bogdan dived bravely at his feet to deny him.
Keith Bertschin said: "We had a word at half-time and just told them to keep believing in themselves and they got their just rewards after a great performance in the second half."
