New fans flocking to JJB Stadium - great news, says Chris Hutchings

Wigan Athletic manager Chris Hutchings has welcomed the news that the club is approaching 2,500 BRAND NEW Season Ticket holders for the forthcoming Barclays Premier League campaign - that's ON TOP of all the thousands of supporters who have already taken advantage of 'the best prices in the Premier League' and renewed for 2007-08.

The JJB Stadium Ticket Office continues to report brisk business as fans clamour to buy season tickets for the new season, and the manager says it speaks volumes to have the backing of the fans,

"I'm absolutely delighted that the fans seem to be responding to what's happening at the club," said Hutchings. "There's a tremendous air of optimism around the place, and I will make sure that filters through to the players when they get back later this week.

"There's a real sense of anticipation in the club, and when that happens, you know things are healthy at a football club."

Hutchings added: "We've made a good start in the transfer market, with five quality signings in so far in Titus Bramble, Antoine Sibierski, Mario Melchiot, Carlo Nash and Andreas Granqvist, and all my staff are working hard to add to that number. The message is getting out there that we mean business as a club, and it's tremendous news that we are attracting so many new faces."

The club have confirmed that the majority of season ticket holders have renewed their seats, while others were waiting for last weekend's renewals deadline to move to another seat, or to another part of the stadium this season.

Brenda Spencer, Chief Executive, said: "We've held out an olive branch to the supporters by reducing the prices, and so far so good, we've had a magnificent response. But the hard work of trying to attract yet more new fans carries on."

With six weeks to go until the start of the season there is still time for supporters to get a great value Season Ticket.

However, the Club warns that those tickets should be taken up sooner rather than later as numbers are sure to grow rapidly as the new season gets closer.
