Report by Paul Chialton

Steve Gohouri's last gasp equaliser made sure Wigan Athletic finished their home campaign with a hard-earned point against a Hull side determined to fight right until the end.

The Ivorian centre-half stepped in for the injured Titus Bramble and again made a name for himself alongside Gary Caldwell at the back. His pace, strength and reading of the game were rewarded with his first goal in blue and white just as the referee was putting the whistle to his lips.

A deep cross to the back-post found Paul Scharner towering above the Hull defence to nod down to Gohouri on the edge of the six-yard-box.

The defender chested down and acrobatically bicycle-kick into the roof of the net to bring the DW Stadium to its feet in celebration.

It was the least Latics deserved having taken the lead after the half-hour mark only to be pegged back by Iain Dowie's, eventually finding themselves 2-1 down.

In fairness the game needed breathing into life after a slow start, and courtesy of Moses it got just that.

The winger finding space on the left-flank, charging at the defence and twisting them inside out. His measured finish into the bottom-right corner capped off a wonderful move and prompted a somersaulting celebration. A brilliant moment for the young man who showed exactly what he's made of in an instant.

Goals for debutants Will Atkinson and Mark Cullen followed either side of half-time, following defensive errors that threatened to ruin the day.

But the 20,000 strong crowd stayed behind their side, knowing from previous experience that with Wigan Athletic the game is never over until the final whistle, today was no different.

Gohouri's timely strike made sure the final lap of honour after the final whistle was met with smiling faces, and with one game left to go at Stamford Bridge this weekend a great way to sign off the season at the DW Stadium.
