Rodallega strike draws a curtain on the season
WIGAN ATHLETIC 1

Hugo Rodallega's third goal in a Latics shirt, and his first in the new one, drew a satisfactory curtain on the season and gave a found farewell to the JJB Stadium.
What will be named the DW Stadium as of next season was treated to a free-flowing, open game of football which Wigan dominated from the off, and got reward for their ingenuity mid-way through the first-half.
Charles N'Zogbia's low cross from the left squirmed underneath Asmir Begovic and fell to the Columbian who had an open goal to stroke into and put the home side in front.
It was the least Steve Bruce's men deserved who, after seven games without a win, put in a confident, stylish performance which was too much for their opponents to handle.
Daniel de Ridder's re-introduction to the first-team gave a refreshing look to the front-line, showing plenty of craft and linking up well to create chances for Hugo Rodallega.
Latics other big threat of the afternoon was Antonio Valencia who's charging runs opened up the Portsmouth defence and could have rewarded him with a goal early on. Finding room around the area, the Ecuadorian danced into the area and could have shot, but chose to cut-back for Rodallega who fired over.
If it is to be Valencia's last game he did Latics proud and his efforts over the last three years will not be forgotten.
But if that is the case fans can look forward to more energising performances from Rodallega, N'Zogbia and co. as well as the emergence of two new stars; Callum McManaman and Jon Routledge, who were introduced late on and did plenty to make their manager happy about.
Player of the season Titus Bramble had little to do all game but, as ever, was there when needed making important challenges to thwart Peter Crouch and John Utaka.
The final whistle brought the fans to their feet in applauding the efforts of the team who in-turn showed there thanks for all the support that has helped them finish the season with a smile and in 11th place.
