Hul City 0-5 LATICS - Amr Zaki sets up one and scores two as Five star Latics breeze to victory
Egyptian Amr Zaki was the star of the show in Hull this afternoon with a sterling performance but it was a game in which every single player stood tall as Latics crushed the Premier League new boys. Kevin Kilbane also made a successful return to the starting line up.
The Irish winger made an immediate impact, scoring after just 5 minutes. Latics won a corner after some lovely link up play between Antonio Valencia and Amr Zaki. The resulting corner was swept in by Kilbane and eluded Hull goalkeeper Bo Myhill, landing in the back of the net.
Minutes later, Zaki sent through Luis Antonio Valencia who, producing some silky skills, including a nutmeg, beat the last man to slot home past Myhill, doubling the Latics lead.
Latics's third came in the 63rd minute when Amr Zaki was rewarded for all his hard work with a goal of his own. Craig Fagan brought down Wilson Palacios just short of the half way line winning Latics a free-kick. Maynor Figueroa found Valencia waiting with a pin point ball to the right hand side of the box. Valencia crossed well to find the waiting Amr Zaki on the penalty spot. Zaki controlled well and drilled home, sending the Latics fans behind the goal into raptures.
Emile Heskey opened his tally for the season when he added a fourth just three minutes later. Mario Melchiot sent a looping ball over the heads of the Hull City defence which was latched onto by Heskey who remained calm to slide past Bo Myhill.
Amr Zaki wrapped up the afternoon with a stunner. Luis Antonio Valencia crossed to find Michael Brown. Brown, surrounded by defenders held his strength and slid the ball to Zaki who unleased a rocket into the top left hand corner which bounced over the line giving Latics their first points of the season in style.
