Barrow's men give five-star display
WIGAN ATHLETIC 5
Bouaouzan 14
McManaman 20, 66
Cywka 45
Holt 55
BURNLEY 0
They say things come in threes, and after seeing the Youth and First Team end their own winless runs, Wigan Athletic's Reserve Team got back to winning ways in emphatic style, crushing Burnley 5-0 at Robin Park.
It was one of those nights where everything went right for Graham Barrow's men, and the result is a fantastic reward for the hard work the team have put in over the last few months, when score-lines haven't reflected performances.
Tonight though was one to remember, with Rachid Bouaouzan getting the ball rolling 15minutes into the game. Captain Jon Routledge, who made an inspirational return to the line-up, won possession on the right-wing, composed himself inside the area before squaring to the winger to fire home from 12-yards.
Already by this point Latics' dominance on the game was showing through and it didn't take long before Callum McManaman took further advantage, shaping himself 20-yards out and placing the ball into the far corner.
With that the game was as good as over, and barely half an hour had been played. The slick passing and clever movement in and around the midfield was too much for the visitors to cope with and when Tomasz Kupisz and Tomasz Cywka combined on the stroke of half-time, the latter made it 3-0.
McManaman popped up with a second after the break and Joe Holt struck a sweet left-footer into the bottom corner from 25-yards just to put the cherry on top of the icing on top of the cake.
A commanding result for a commanding performance then for Latics, and a real boost entering the final stages of the season.
