Experience the key for Tigers over young Latics

Wigan Athletic's young-looking Reserve Side fought bravely against their more experienced opponents but were unable to turn things round and avoid a 3-0 defeat.

Hull's side, which featured a host of first-team players such as Jimmy Bullard, Ibrahima Sonko and Kamel Ghilas were too strong for Graham Barrow's side who started brightly and applied themselves to the challenge with great enthusiasm.

But it was with Hull's first attack that they scored, winning a free-kick expertly dispatched by former-Latics midfielder Bullard. Two goals from Mark Cullen either side of the break sealed the win for the home side.

Without influential skipper Jon Routledge it was always going to be tough for Barrow's side, but the introduction of Adam Buxton, David Mayer, Jonathan Breeze and Michael Jukes from the Youth Team meant that valuable lessons and expereince were gained, and their performance will have pleased the First Team Coach.

Although it was a case of damage limitation by the end Barrow was proud of his team who, despite results, have continued to progress with each week and are always taking on board new aspects of the game.
