REPORT: LATICS RES vs MAN CITY RES

Posted on: Thu 06 Dec 2007

Latics 2-4 Manchester City - Skoko brace not enough in the end.

Two first half goals from Josip Skoko (pictured right) twice brought Latics level but young City striker Paul Marshall went onto to complete a second half-hat trick for the visitors.

Skoko saw a first half shot deflected in after Marshall had opened the scoring, then drove in from the edge of the box on the stroke of half time following a second City goal from Hall.

A controversial penalty just short of the hour mark then swung the pendulum back City's way and with Latics pushing for a third equaliser, Marshall scored again from a free-kick.

Reserve team coach Keith Bertschin, in his first match, said he was pleased with the overall effort of the team. David Coterill, playing as a striker, looked very sharp at times.

LATICS: Postlethwaite; Taylor, Hall, Ashworth, Moore; Cwyka (Kupisz, 65), Montrose, Skoko, Bouaouzan; Coterill, Mahon
Subs: Novak, Holt, McCaughtrie, Pearson
