BLACKBURN ROVERS 0 - 0 LATICS. Boua debut as Mark Seagraves' men battle to great point at Ewood

Mark Seagraves' boys fought a well deserved point in their opening fixture of the season against a strong Rovers team featuring former Latics defender Stephane Henchoz, and played at Ewood Park under the watching Chris Hutchings.

Rachid Bouaouzan was impressive on his debut following last week's move from Sparta Rotterdam, and looked a threat on the left wing.

Julius Aghahowa came closest to scoring and also looked lively throughout, with a very strong penalty appeal turned down late on.

In a side also featuring Carlo Nash, Tomasz Cywka and Fitz Hall, young pros Peter Moore and Lewis Montrose impressed, alongside left back Kris King, centre half Luke Ashworth and Wigan-born right midfielder Matty Hampson.

Craig Mahon, who played the full 90 minutes alongside Aghahowa, was another to catch the eye.

Seagraves said: "All around it was an excellent team effort. You expect a certain level of performance from the pros, but tonight, everyone that came in raised their game and it was a shame for them they did not get the goal they deserved."
