Highly experienced and qualified physio who joined Latics from Swansea City.

Richard Evans worked closely with Roberto Martinez at Swansea and was brought to Wigan Athletic shortly after the Spaniard's return to the club.

His responsibilities will include combining his knowledge of physiotherapy and background in sports science to improve the fitness and conditioning of Wigan Athletic's players.

Evans fronts the club's medical staff and designs specific fitness programmes to improve the overall fitness of the squad and help with the rehabilitation of those that pick up injuries.

Upon bringing Evans to the club, Latics' manager Martinez explained how important his role is:

"He will personalise the training routines for all the players, planning work, rest and diet schedules, and he will be working closely with Graeme Jones and myself out on the training field to get the maximum out of the players, physically and mentally."
