GRAHAM BARROW, FIRST TEAM COACH

Posted on: Mon 20 Jul 2009
Former player and maanger who returns to Latics as First Team Coach.

Barrow starred for Wigan Athletic firstly as a player between 1981-86, and secondly as a manager in 1994. He was responsible for bringing Roberto Martinez to Springfield Park as a player and, somewhat ironically, it was Martinez who appointed Barrow back to the club after a 15-year absence to take up the coaching post.

In his 179 appearances for the club, primarily as a defensive midfielder, Barrow netted 35 goals, and was a vital part of Larry Lloyd's promotion to the Football League in the 1981/82 season.

Barrow is responsible for reserve team affairs and taking charge for reserve league fixtures, as well as dealing with the first team squad as well.

His playing career was spent at Southport, Chester and Altrincham, and it is from the latter that Wigan Athletic recruited Barrow from his role as Assistant Manager.

Apart from his time as Latics' manager, he has also taken charge at Chester, Rochdale and Bury.
