200 MILLION BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE FANS

Tonight, the 200,000,000th fan in Barclays Premier League history is set to pass through the turnstiles, since the inception of the Premier League in 1992.

Last Monday's Merseyside derby at Anfield saw the turnstiles click for the 199,977,163th time, and at one of the four Barclays Premier League fixtures this evening at Fratton Park, The Stadium of Light, White Hart Lane or The Hawthorns the 200,000,000th landmark will be reached.

Since the Barclays Premier League started in 1992 there have been 6,543 matches featuring 42 different teams scoring a sensational 17,020 goals.

The current record attendance was at Old Trafford in March where 76,098 fans saw Manchester United's game against Blackburn Rovers.

Kevin Wall of Barclays said: "200,000,000 fans is an unbelievable achievement and means that on average over 30,000 fans have turned up to watch every Barclays Premier League game. It goes to prove that the Barclays Premier League is not only watched by billions around the world on television but continues to attract millions to what must be one of the best live spectacles anywhere in the world."
