A group of football fans who have lost weight and become fitter have been presented with Wigan Athletic shirts by former Latics defender Matt Jackson.
The men have all completed the 12 week Fit Fans programme with Wigan Athletic Community Trust, which aims to help men over the age of 25 lose weight and improve their health.
Each week participants get to play football and sport with coaches from the Trust while also getting simple tips on how to lead a healthier lifestyle.
Matt said: “I was happy to go and meet the lads and present them with their shirts. Trying to get in shape or stay healthy is never easy and as blokes we don’t generally like talking about health, but working with Wigan Athletic obviously helped to motivate the group.
Since the project, which is funded by the Premier League and the PFA, began in September last year 35 people have completed the programme.
Paul Lynch, 38 from Hindley, said: “Fit Fans is a great course that really helped motivate me to get back into shape.”
