Latics defender Luke Burke has joined Barrow AFC on loan for a month long youth loan, initially until March 18th 2017.
The 18 year-old defender appeared in five of Latics’ first six games of this season, starting in four of them, and signed a new 18 month contract in the autumn.
Manager Warren Joyce feels the move will help his development in the short-term and said; “Luke will benefit from game time and we hope he can get that with Barrow in a competitive environment.
“We wish him all the best and will be monitoring his progress.”
Luke Burke has been with the club since the age of 11 and has progressed through the different age groups, captaining both the Under 18s and Development Squads and winning the Michael Millet Under 18 Player of The Season Award in 2015-16.
He could make his debut tonight, Tuesday 15th February. The Bluebirds are currently 7th in the National League, and will move into the play-off position if they beat Macclesfield Town at Moss Rose.
