Wigan Athletic Community Trust is looking for students to join their BTEC Sport programme starting in September 2014.
In association with ProCoNW, training will be provided for successful candidates to work towards earning a recognised BTEC Sport Qualification.
The course will provide opportunities to train with FA and UEFA qualified coaches and to earn the chance to complete an FA Level 1 in Coaching Football Award.
Volunteering opportunities will be available as well as the chance to play matches against other football clubs running similar schemes.
Students who complete the year-long course will then have the chance to apply for a full apprenticeship with the Community Trust. Five recent graduates of the apprenticeship programme have now gone on to gain a place to study Sports Coaching at the University of South Wales.
The course will be based at the Montrose Skills Hub in Pemberton, with practical sessions delivered at Wigan Youth Zone.
Successful candidates will receive expenses, lunch and their own Wigan Athletic tracksuit.
For more details about the course please contact Dan Bathgate, the Trust’s 16-18 year old Education co-ordinator, on 01942 488 530 or email d.bathgate@wiganathleticct.
