Six North West teams competed this Sunday to be named Premier League 4 Sport North West regional Table Tennis champions.
Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United and Wigan Athletic each sent two teams to compete for the regional title.
Held at Platt Bridge Community Centre, the home of Wigan Table Tennis, the round robin tournament saw each team play against one another throughout the day.
It came down to the final game between Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers to discover the overall winners, and following the game it was Blackburn Rovers who were named as champions.
Zac Taylor, our Premier League 4 Sport co-ordinator, said of the day: ‘It was a great day for the young people to test themselves against other clubs in the region.'
‘The event gave the young people the opportunity to compete, officiate and meet new people.’
‘Competitions are vital to the project as they offer a real incentive and are seen as something to work towards by the young people who attend the sessions regularly.’
‘I would like to thank Steve Rowe of Wigan Table Tennis Club in helping to organise the event.’
Table Tennis is one of six sports that Wigan Athletic include in their Premier League 4 Sport scheme, alongside Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Tennis and Volleyball.
Premier League 4 Sport is hosted by the Premier League, Sport England and the Youth Sport Trust and funded by a partnership with the UK Government.
Table Tennis evenings run across the week and are based in Wigan Youth Zone and Platt Bridge Community Centre.
