A Wigan Athletic fan has lost over two stone through taking part in a sport and fitness programme organised by the Club’s Latics in the Community team.
Sam Mott, 28, from Orrell, took part in the Wigan Fit Fans programme in a bid to start leading a healthier lifestyle and has now lost 17 cm from around his waist.
The Fit Fans programme is a free 12 week programme for men over the age of 25 and aims to use sport and football to get more men in Wigan doing more physical activity and being healthier.
Sam, who works part time as a steward at the DW Stadium during Wigan Athletic home games said:
“I heard about the Fit Fans programme through working at the Club and after chatting to some of the coaches on a match day I thought I would give it a go.
“The course was just what I needed and really helped me to motivate myself to start losing some weight, as beforehand I would probably have described myself as being overweight. I have still got work to do but the Latics have helped push me in the right direction.”
Sam enjoyed the course so much that he is now trying to convince other friends and colleagues to get involved in the course.
“I can’t thanks Chris and the coaches enough, and would recommend Fit Fans to anyone who wants to lose weight or just be a bit healthier.”
The Wigan Fit Fans scheme is funded by the Premier League/PFA Community Fund and supported by the NHS Bridgewater Healthcare Trust.
Sessions are completely free to men over the age of 25 with course run at different times and venues across Wigan.
