Wigan Athletic can confirm midfielder Danny Redmond has joined newly promoted Hamilton Academical.
The out of contract 23-year-old was offered terms to stay at the DW Stadium but has decided to take up the challenge of the Scottish Premiership, where he will team up with former Latics team mates Jon Routledge, whom he played with in the Latics Under 18s and Under 21 sides – as well as a loan spell at Hamilton in 2011 – and Jason Scotland.
Redmond came through the youth team system at Latics alongside Callum McManaman but only made four first team appearances, all in cup games, the latest coming against Manchester City in the Capital One Cup last September.
He also made 15 appearances on loan at Carlisle United last season, under the management of former Latics midfielder Graham Kavanagh.
Redmond's move continues a fruitful association with the recently promoted Scottish club, from whom Latics signed both James McArthur and James McCarthy.
Everyone at the club wishes him the best of luck in his future career.
