Young Latics to take on Southport and Charnock Richard in friendlies before LFA Cup final.

The Wigan Athletic Development Squad will face two pre-season friendlies against local opposition Southport and Charnock Richard in July ahead of the Lancashire FA Senior Cup final against Bury in August.

Latics' first fixture will be against Skrill Premier side Southport on Wednesday July 16 with a 7.30pm kick off at the Merseyrail Community Stadium.

Four days later Latics will take on West Lancashire Football League Premier Division Champions Charnock Richard at 2.00pm on Sunday 20 July at Mossie Park, adjacent to the proposed site for the new Wigan Athletic training facility.

After successfully seeing off Preston North End and Bolton Wanderers in earlier rounds, Latics will then challenge to win their third trophy in the space of five months when they meet Bury in the LFA Senior Cup final on Wednesday 6 August.

The LFA's County Ground, located at their headquarters in Leyland, will play host to the fixture with a kick off time of 7.45pm.

Further details for admission prices will be released closer to the dates of each fixture. Please check our fixture list for more details as and when they are updated.

The Development Squad will also play two behind closed doors friendlies away against Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers in July.
