Match Preview

The penultimate league game of the regular season sees Wigan Athletic head down the M6 to face Birmingham City at St. Andrew's on Tuesday night in what is a 2nd bite at the cherry to secure a play off position.

The Latics boss Uwe Rosler remains relaxed ahead of the game saying the target remains the same, "just one win is needed."

Latics were defeated at the DW Stadium by relegation threatened Blackpool on Saturday, the first time Uwe Rosler has tasted back-to-back defeats since he joined the club in December.  Birmingham are also battling to escape the drop, so Latics can expect another 'do or die' performance from the hosts on Tuesday night.

Ivan Ramis is still not quite ready for a return following his hamstring strain picked up at Wembley against Arsenal.  Martyn Waghorn is fine despite being withdrawn at half time on Saturday.  Ben Watson and Chris McCann remain the long term absentees.

For Birmingham City Lee Clark welcomes back Hayden Mullins from his loan spell with Notts County while defender Will Packwood (hamstring) is doubtful and Tom Thorpe has returned to parent club Manchester United.

Head to Head

This will be the 17th meeting in all competitions.  It's been a close affair in terms of the head-tog-head between the two side in previous meetings - the draw the most common outcome (seven).  Latics have four wins to Birmingham's five, though Wigan Athletic have never won at St. Andrew's.
