Preview

After clinching the Final Third Development League West title last week against Tranmere Rovers, Latics travel to Morecambe for their final game of the season at the Globe Arena.

Luke Ainscough scored the vital goal against Tranmere as Latics ran out 1-0 winners, and with two cup semi-finals ahead of them within the next eight days, Latics will be looking to build on their recent form which has seen them win four of their last five games.

An updated league table is now available on our fixtures and results page by [clicking here], with Latics top of the division on 28 points from 13 games.

Latics have already faced the Shrimps twice so far this season, winning 2-0 in the reverse fixture on the opening day of the season courtesy of goals from Ryan Meadows and Guillermo Andres, as well as claiming a 1-0 victory last month en-route to the Final Third Development League Cup semi-final, again top goal scorer Andres was on the score sheet.

The hosts head into the game off the back of a thrilling 3-2 victory against Oldham Athletic last week which moved them up into sixth place.

Latics boast the best defence in the division, conceding just 10 goals, while Morecambe have the joint lowest amount of goals scored on 14.
