Match Preview

Latics head into their final home league game on 25 points at the top of the Final Third Development League West, leading second place Walsall by one point, with the Saddlers having only one remaining fixture, meaning three more points would seal the title.

Peter Atherton's side face Tranmere for the third time this season, having already won twice away from home in the league and League Cup, 4-1 and 2-1 respectively.

Latics came close to sealing the league title last week against Oldham Athletic, but were narrowly beaten 2-1 after a commanding, attacking performance.

Sixth place Tranmere arrive at Robin Park having defeated Port Vale 2-1 in last week's round of fixtures and with a Cheshire League Cup final on the horizon against Macclesfield Town.

Cup games also lie ahead for Latics, with the LFA Cup semi-final against Bolton Wanderers and Final Third Development League Cup semi-final against Hartlepool United set to follow their final game of the season against Morecambe.
