Wigan Athletic are delighted to confirm that West Ham United’s Wales international midfielder Jack Collison has joined on loan.
The 25 year-old watched his new team mates from the stands for tonight’s Sky Bet Championship match versus Yeovil Town having put pen to paper on the deal which will keep him at the DW Stadium until the end of the season.
He will train with the team this week and be in contention for a place in the squad to face Watford on Saturday. He is also eligible to play in the FA Cup.
Colison’s arrival comes in the wake of Chris McCann being ruled out for the rest of the season following his fractured knee-cap, and of Roger Espinoza being sidelined for a few weeks following his hernia operation.
He joins Ryan Tunnicliffe, Martyn Waghorn, Nicky Maynard, Josh McEachran and Markus Holgersson as Rosler signings and the manager is delighted with his new charge.
“After we lost Ben, Chris and Roger, we have now brought in two great signings in Ryan Tunnicliffe and Jack Collison.
“Jack is exactly what we needed, he can play in a few different positions, has terrific experience of both the Premier League and the Championship and will heighten competition for places as we move into the crucial last few weeks of the season.”
Watford-born Collison came through the ranks at West Ham and has played 105 league games, scoring 11 goals. He was a crucial part of the team that were promoted from the Championship in 2012. He last featured for the Hammers in the league in January. He also spent a short spell on loan at Bournemouth earlier this season. He has 17 caps for Wales.
