Latics continue their progression in the Final Third Development League and put daylight between themselves and second place Walsall, opening up a four point gap at the top of the West Division thanks to goals from Joey Johnson and top scorer Guillermo Andres.
An excellent performance from winger Ryan Jennings saw him involved in both goals, with Johnson getting the ball rolling just after half time and substitute Andres confirming the victory.
Experience in defence helped Latics for the second game running, securing their second clean sheet in a row with Markus Holgersson and Thomas Rogne at the heart of the back four.
Latics started their pressing early, adding bite to their attack with a number of early chances as Australian striker Patrick Antelmi made himself a nuisance.
His first opportunity came as Jennings' cross from the left came back across goal off Jack Phillips, but Antelmi couldn't get enough on his back post effort and sliced wide.
Antelmi's next effort proved much better, controlling on the edge of the area and wriggling free of his marker before smashing a left footed drive at the Oldham goalkeeper.
On 14 minutes eventual opening goal scorer Johnson provided another great effort, latching onto the end of Tim Chow's pass from midfield and striking first time, forcing a tipped save wide of the post.
As Latics continued to threaten, their main attacking force came through Jennings down the left wing. His blistering pace and trickery had Oldham in knots at times, but Latics still couldn't break the deadlock.
After shaking off an injury just before half time, Jennings then provided an assist three minutes after the break. He found Johnson on the edge of the area from the left, with 18-year-old netting his fifth of the season as he tucked the ball into the bottom right corner.
Latics carved out another golden opportunity when Phillips' quick free kick to Antelmi saw the 19-year-old's left footed strike skim off the top of the cross bar.
Two changes were afoot on 61 minutes when Luke Ainscough and Guillermo Andres replaced Chow and Antelmi. It wasn't long before Andres grabbed his eighth goal of the season after more combination play between Jennings and Johnson down the left.
Jennings' threatening saw him pass inside to Johnson who shot first time and was denied by the Oldham 'keeper, however he couldn't hold onto the ball and Andres tapped in from close range.
A final change saw Under 18 forward Matthew Hamilton replace Jennings in the final 10 minutes and he almost put the icing on the cake when he lashed a left footed volley goalwards, but was denied by a solid save.
