Match Preview

Wigan Athletic will play their third game in six days this Saturday when they travel to the Madejski Stadium to take on one of the league's promotion contenders. Latics did the double over Reading last season scoring six goals in the process which included a perfect hat-trick by Jordi Gomez in the 3-2 win at the DW Stadium just over 12 months ago.

Team News

With the news that Ali Al Habsi was fit enough to take up a place on the bench at Sheffield Wednesday in midweek, there could be a whole new level of competition for the 'keepers jersey with Scott Carson currently in pole position.  The manager is also expected to continue to refresh his squad with several players rested for the midweek game.

Reading's Danny Guthrie is set to return from suspension after missing last weekend's 1-0 win at Huddersfield.

Midfielder Chris Baird (ankle) will also be in contention but the Royals are still without defenders Wayne Bridge and Sean Morrison (both knee).

Head to Head

It's not quite neck and neck between Latics and Reading.  From the previous 38 meetings, all of which have been league encounters, Latics have a very slight edge with 15 wins to Reading's 14.  [Click here] to see out full head to head record.
