New manager Uwe Rosler has urged the Latics fans to come out in force on Sunday when local rivals Bolton Wanderers become the first opponents in a new era for Wigan Athletic.
With tickets still selling fast, a crowd of over 20,000 is hoped for in what should be the largest attendance at the DW Stadium this season and the new gaffer says he cannot wait: “I think this is the best possible fixture for me to start with, the crowd will be up for it and the players will know the importance of the match.
“If the supporters have not bought a ticket yet, then now is the time. This is as big a game for our club as there has been in recent months, we need everyone to be together for this one.
“My footballing philosophy is simple: to be positive at all times. Whatever has gone before is not important now. This is a new beginning for everyone. For me, the players and the supporters. We need to be all united as one for the good of Wigan Athletic.
“It would be fantastic to get a big noisy crowd behind us at the DW. The stadium is a magnificent arena for playing football, the pitch is excellent – everything is positive in my mind.”
Tickets for the game can be purchased from the DW Stadium ticket office between 9am and 5pm on Thursday and Friday, 9am until midday on Saturday and from 10am on the day of the game. You can call the ticket office on 0871 66 33 552 and buy online at www.wiganathletic.com/tickets. We would urge supporters not to wait until the day of the game where possible as, should the need arise, selling restrictions may be applied.
Speaking exclusively to the official Wigan Athletic website from the team’s headquarters in Slovenia ahead of tonight’s match against NK Maribor, Rösler says it has been a hectic week, but everything is geared to be ready for Sunday.
