Learn more about Latics’ new manager Uwe Rosler.

As usual with a new face at the DW Stadium, we bring you 10 facts to give you a quick run down of our new man.

1.Uwe Rosler made over 400 career appearances across 12 clubs in Germany, England and Norway.

2.Uwe was born in Altenburg in the then East Germany where he plied his trade during his formative football years.

3.He moved to England in 1994 following a successful trial period with Manchester City, where he played over 150 times in the league and scored 50 goals.

4.In 1998 Uwe left Man City to join Kaiserslautern, but he returned to England in 2000 to play for Southampton until 2002, with a loan spell at West Bromwich Albion in 2001.

5.Seeing out his career in Norway with Lillestrom, Rosler would later become their manager in 2004 after recovering from cancer.

6.He managed in Norway for six years, moving to Viking in 2006 until 2009 before a short term spell at Molde.

7.In June 2011 Rosler became manager of Brentford, leading them to a ninth place finish in 2011/12, before taking them to the League One play-off final last season, where they lost out to Yeovil Town at Wembley Stadium.

8.Rosler’s international career saw him earn five caps for East Germany and six caps for East Germany’s Under 21s.

9.While at Man City Rosler played with former Latics man Paul Beesley and future players Peter Beagrie, Michael Brown and Ged Brannan.

10.Uwe becomes Latics’ 42nd permanent manager and the 20th permanent manager since joining the Football League in 1978.
