Latics fans of all ages have lent their hand to record a promotional film promoting next week’s final Europa League Group Stage match against the Belgians of Zulte Waregem on Thursday 28 November – which is now available to view on the club’s You Tube Channel at www.youtube.com/LaticsOfficial
Qualification for the UEFA Europa League knockout stages in the club’s first ever campaign is still very much in our own hands but could be achieved on the night, if Latics beat Zulte and Maribor fail to win in Kazan, and the excitement is building in the camp.
Latics manager Owen Coyle says: ‘It’s a fantastic position for us to be in. It would be great to achieve qualification in front of our own fans, but even if that doesn’t happen we know that our destiny lies in our own hands, which is all you can ever ask for in football.
“It would be great to see another big European crowd at the DW next week after the two amazing atmospheres we have seen versus Maribor and Rubin Kazan for what could turn out to be a real historic night.
Seven fans of different ages and gender, ranging from 8 year old Latics die hard Dan Brown to 82 year old lifelong supporter Peter Kevill have contributed to the film, where they are quizzed about what the club means to them- and how proud they are to be Latics fans.
Coyle says: “I think the film is brilliant, it shows exactly what we are about. A family club that belongs to the town. We are as proud of our fans as they are clearly proud of their club.”
