Wigan Athletic are delighted to announce the arrival of Marc Albrighton on a 28-day loan deal from Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old completes the move in time to be available for Wednesday night’s Championship fixture against Queens Park Rangers at the DW Stadium and Owen Coyle spoke of his delight at securing the services of the former England Under 21 international.
He said: "Marc has shown what an outstanding player he is time and again in the Premier League, and he is someone I have tried to sign in the past, so I'm delighted to bring him on board to strengthen our squad.
"He's at a young age with the potential and scope to get even better; he's quick, dangerous and pleasing on the eye and I feel he's going to really enhance the attacking options we have at Wigan Athletic, particularly in light of Shaun Maloney's absence."
Albrighton progressed through the academy ranks at Aston Villa before making his debut against CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Cup back in February 2009.
His league debut came the following season, coincidentally against Latics at Villa Park, coming off the bench in the second half of the Premier League clash in which goals from Hugo Rodallega and Jason Koumas secured a 2-0 victory.
The wide man made eleven appearances in all competitions last season, and has featured just once this term in Villa’s Capital One Cup defeat to Tottenham Hotspur back in September.
Albrighton will wear the number 33 shirt.
