Ivan Ramis made his playing return for Wigan Athletic this afternoon as the Development Squad drew 0-0 against Fleetwood Town in a friendly at Christopher Park.
The 29-year-old completed the full 90 minutes, helping his side to a clean sheet in what passed off as a comfortable performance for the defender.
The Spanish centre back has been ruled out for Latics since January 2013 following an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury in a 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
His return comes after a two week training period with the first team group and his continued recovery is something which manager Owen Coyle is very pleased with.
Before the game Coyle said:
"The closed doors friendly is the perfect chance for us to see what stage Ivan is at.
"Day by day he's getting stronger, but we've got to understand that he's been out injured for a very long time and he'll need time to adjust back to playing games.
"He's a top player and the sooner we have him back available the better, but it's our duty to make sure that he's back at 100%."
The stalemate at Christopher Park also saw first team squad members Danny Redmond and Nouha Dicko feature, with Honduran full back Juan Carlos Garcia coming closest to breaking the deadlock when he hit the cross bar just before half time.
