It was the first ever game between Latics and the Foxes, ending in a goalless draw which saw Latics go outright top of the Championship by one point over trailing Ipswich Town, with Paul Jewell's men on 40 points and the Tractor Boys on 39, following their defeat a day later.
Neither side could break each other down and a frustrating game led to two bookings for either side, with Jason Roberts and Ian Breckin seeing yellow for Latics and Joey Gudjonsson and Nikos Dabizas for Leicester.

Brett Ormerod was the star of the show for Latics as he netted a brace, his only two goals during his brief loan spell with the club and so far Latics' only goals against Leicester.
He first turned in a Graham Kavanagh free kick midway through the opening 45 minutes, before again getting on the end of a Kavanagh set piece just before the hour mark, powering in a header from a corner to double Latics' lead.
The victory took Latics three points clear of second place Ipswich Town with three games of the season remaining, but a day later that lead was cut by a point when first place Sunderland drew 2-2 with the Tractor Boys, a result that ensured the successes of all three league leading clubs would hang in the balance.
Leicester on the other hand lay 16th in the Championship on 49 points with two games in hand over the teams around them.
Leicester starting XI: Walker, McCarthy, Tiatto, Maybury, Dabizas, Gudjonsson, Williams, Gillespie, Dublin, Connolly, De Vries
