After completing around 60 minutes in Saturday's 2-1 victory in the international friendly match against Columbus Crew, Jordi Gomez today returned to the training pitch but before doing so shared some words on the tour.
"I'm really enjoying being in the United States," said Gomez.
"It's something really new for me and for most of the players but it's always good to try something different.
"Being here has been a great opportunity to bond as a team and it's something which will help us as we build towards the season."
On Saturday's game Gomez added:
"The match against Columbus Crew was a good chance for us to test our fitness after some hard weeks work on the training ground.
"It's been a tough process but well worth it and very necessary.
"At kick off on Saturday evening it was very warm which made it a test for all of us but it was a great chance to play alongside new team mates."
With the start of the Championship season just under three weeks away, Gomez added that preparations have gone well so far and he's ready for the challenge of the division.
"I've played at this level before and did very well so I'm hoping I can perform to that same level again.
"There are many players in the squad who know what it's like to battle for promotion and one of the main things for the team is to have a good atmosphere.
"With the players already in the squad and the new signings as well, we've got a great atmosphere already."
Next up for Owen Coyle's side is a game against Dayton Dutch Lions tomorrow evening and Gomez said he's looking forward to being involved.
"I'd really liked to be involved in the game because it's another chance for us to test our fitness.
"Pre-season games are a great chance to have spells on the pitch when you can push yourself physically and everyone is up for the challenge."
