James McArthur has spoken of his excitement at working with new Latics boss Owen Coyle, and has his sights set firmly on promotion from the Championship this season.
The Scotland international was speaking to the Glasgow Evening Times, ahead of the new season and as well as looking forward to teaming-up with the squad and the Gaffer next week, clearly set out his intentions for the coming year:
"My priority is to try and help Wigan back up to the Premier League. Owen Coyle is coming in and that is exciting,” he said.
"I have always been an admirer of what he achieved with Burnley, in taking the club back up to the Premier League, and he was unlucky that a catalogue of injuries undermined his final season at Bolton.
"So while I will be taking stock of the season I have just had, I am already mentally starting to switch towards the coming weeks.
"The boys all feel we have a point to prove and the only way to do that is to get back up to the Premier League."
