Murphy FC win Wigan Masters Tournament

Around 150 men took part in the first ever Wigan Masters Soccer Sixes Football at Robin Park on Saturday.

The competition which brought together groups of men from businesses and organisations from across Wigan was won by local company Murphy’s.

Murphy’s were presented with their trophy by Latics Chief Executive Jonathan Jackson, who also took part in the competition with a group of friends.

For winning the tournament the team from Murphy’s will be given a VIP tour of the Club’s Christopher Park Training Ground and have their chance to have their picture taken with the FA Cup.

The tournament was organised by Wigan Athletic Community Trust in partnership with Wigan Council’s Trim Down Shape Up and Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust and was designed to help inspire men from Wigan to get fitter and take part in more sport.

The Fit Fans project organised by the Community Trust, gives men over the age of 25 the chance to take part in a fun free 12 week fitness and sports programme. At the end of the project each participant is presented with their own replica shirt.
