Local leaders backing Latics at Wembley

Council members dropped by the DW Stadium this week to wish their luck to Wigan Athletic ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup semi final against Millwall at Wembley.

Leader of Wigan Council Lord Peter Smith was joined by councillors Chris Ready and David Molyneux to show their support for Latics for Saturday, meeting Roberto Martinez and Chief Executive Jonathan Jackson.

Lord Smith said: “Everyone at Wigan Council is proud of Wigan Athletic and wishing them well for Saturday. I hope it will be the first of two trips to Wembley for the club’s supporters.”

Cllr Molyneux added: “It would be a massive achievement for them to get to the FA Cup final. The club has helped put the town on the map in recent years and we all should be grateful for that. And if they could just beat Millwall, it really would give us something to cheer.”
