With the whole town gripped by Wembley fever ahead of Wigan Athletic’s FA Cup semi final against Millwall this weekend, Uncle Joe’s mintballs have shown their support by producing a limited edition of ‘Latics Mints’ for the big occasion.
However, only 12 jars of the local delicacy have been produced, and in conjunction with the Wigan Evening Post, one will be given away every day until the big date, with six others being donated to the Joseph’s Goal charity.
Managing Director of the company John Winnard said: “We were absolutely delighted when Latics got to Wembley and wanted to do something special.
“We have always considered ourselves part of the Wigan community and support everything which represents the town.
“We are so proud of the club and we think they’d be perfect for fans to share on their way down.
“Joseph’s Goal is a great charity to support to so we hope it can help raise a lot of money.”
But it’s not the first time a limited edition batch has been produced; when Latics reached the final of the Carling Cup in 2006 fans were queuing out of the door of the Crompton Street shop to get their hands on the sweets, which were stopped when the shop shut.
Now they’re back, and to get your hands on a unique piece of Latics memorabilia all you have to do is answer the following question:
Who won last season’s FA Cup?
Email your answer to firstname.lastname@example.org with a name and contact telephone number.
A different winner will be selected at random from all answers received each day.
Alternatively, you can bid for one of the six jars being donated to the Joseph’s Goal charity, to help raise funds into research for non-ketotic Hyperglycinemia.
A reserve price is set at £25.00 and to make a bid email email@example.com
