Franco Di Santo was an unused substitute in Saturday’s FA Cup quarter final victory against Everton but, that didn’t stop him from getting involved in the excitement on the day.
Speaking at the training ground today he said:
“It was brilliant what the team did on Saturday.
“On the substitutes bench I got that feeling of excitement when we scored the third goal.
“It’s not normal for us or any team to score three goals in such a short space of time so it was a really strange feeling but we were all celebrating.”
On the overall performance Di Santo added:
“What we saw on Saturday was all the hard work that is put in on the training ground coming into action and the team did what they had to do incredibly well.
“It was a great feeling in the dressing room at half time but we couldn’t be too relaxed and the second half showed how focussed we were.
“I was proud of every single one of my team mates on Saturday and the team has done something amazing which is to get into the semi-final for the first time ever.
“Pride is definitely the word to use and so is ‘history’ because that is what we have and can achieve.”
With the euphoria of the cup still in the air, Di Santo keeps a level head and knows exactly where the team’s focus lies.
“The most important thing now of course is to turn our attention towards the Premier League and the game against Newcastle on Sunday.
“I think it was amazing to see the way the team played and we can now try and do the same thing against Newcastle in what is going to be one of the most important games of the season.”
