Fans urged not to light flares

The club are reminding any fans travelling to Huddersfield on Sunday for the FA Cup 5th Round at the John Smith Stadium that possession of flares inside a football ground is a criminal offence.

Any incidence of flares being lit could lead to severe repercussion for the individuals concerned, as well as potential sanctions for the club.’

Any supporters found to be lighting flares will by identified by closed circuit television system and the club wishes to state it will have a zero tolerance policy on this issue.

Jonathan Jackson, Chief Executive said: “Any action such as this that puts at risk the health and safety of our supporters will be dealt with appropriately.”

Huddersfield Town have confirmed that visiting fans will be searched upon entry to the John Smith's Stadium on Sunday, and that any found in possession of flares or pyrotechnic devices will be dealt with appropriately.
