Roger Espinoza has given his first interview after becoming Wigan Athletic’s latest signing, and told of his excitement at the prospect of making his Latics debut in this weekend’s FA Cup third round tie against AFC Bournemouth at the DW Stadium.
The Honduras international will wear the number 18 for the club following his move from Sporting Kansas City, one he’s not worn before but hopes will become a memorable one for him, saying:
“Well, I’ve not had that number before but if it brings me luck and I can do well with it on my shirt who knows? Maybe it will be my new favourite number!
The 26-year-old said his excitement has been building at the opportunity to play his football in the Barclays Premier League:
“It was a no-brainer really and I’m really looking forward to working with players and a manager who are known around the world.
“We’ve got a game against Bournemouth on Saturday here at the DW Stadium so hopefully the manager will hand me the opportunity to make my debut in that match. If he does, then I’ll be ready and excited to try and help my team-mates on the pitch.”
