Midfielder to have leg cast removed on Thursday.

After fracturing his shin in November’s game against Liverpool at Anfield, Ben Watson is on the road to recovering and said that having his cast taken off his a huge relief.

The 27-year-old said:

“It’s great that the cast is coming off and once that’s done then I can start to do a bit more weight bearing work on the leg because I’ve done little bits but obviously the cast has been restricted any real movement.

“I’ve felt good with the work I’ve done and the recovery process has been really pleasing so far.

“Up until now everything has been straight forward and hopefully it stays that way.”

With seven of his team mates also facing treatment on injuries, Watson said he was itching to get back into the action but must be patient in doing so.

“You just want to be out there, and being injured is the worst part about being a footballer because your standard week is that you come out to train every day and when you can’t do that then it can be quite frustrating.

“In this situation it’s important to be positive and the bonus of having family around me and a great bunch of team mates has really helped.

“It is pointless to dwell on the injury because what has happened cannot be changed and if I remain positive then I’ll be back out there as soon as possible.”

He added:

“Another thing about being injured is you can’t have any influence on the team on the pitch and of course it is in my nature to want to be a part and help the team out.

“It has been a difficult period recently due to injuries and we have lots of our first 11 out injured.

“This is the first time since the gaffer took over that we’ve had an injury list as big as this one but, I’m sure the work in the treatment room will have every player back fit and without risk of further injury.”
