Wigan Athletic’s 20-year-old goalkeeper Lee Nicholls has signed a one-year extension on an improved deal which will see him stay with the Club until 2015.
Nicholls has been impressing with League Two Northampton Town on loan this season and has made 19 appearances for the Cobblers, keeping seven clean sheets in the process.
Roberto Martinez was delighted to see Nicholls commit to another three years at the Club.
“Seeing Lee’s progress from a younger age has been a joy and to have him stay here and continue his hard work is great news.
“Lee is a great goalkeeper and he has shown that at Northampton this season.
“He has had some outstanding performances and we are really looking forward to continuing to work with him.”
