Japanese international Ryo Miyaichi is back in full training with the rest of the squad having been out of action in recent weeks with a pubic injury.
The 19-year-old picked up the knock whilst on international duty and has not been available for selection since Latics’ trip to Swansea City back in October.
Roberto Martinez is delighted to have the player back in contention ahead of this weekend’s Barclays Premier League match at Anfield, saying:
“We’ll need to see how he responds to the work this week as the intensity of his preparations go up a level before we decide whether he can make the trip to Liverpool or not, but it’s great news that he is back training with the squad.
“The injury was a big blow to him after a bright start to the season, but he remained positive throughout his recovery and is very close to 100% again, which is great news for the team.”
Ryo himself added:
“It’s been a tough few weeks and I’ve been desperate to get involved on the pitch and in training but have had to remain patient.
“Now that I can step up my training I want to do everything I can to get back into the team and back appearing on the pitch.”
