The Sports Awards are organised by Wigan Sports Development to recognise the sporting achievements of the people of Wigan and this year’s Volunteer of the Year Award was sponsored by Wigan Athletic Community Trust.
Alex who is 20 volunteers for 15 hours a week helping to coach young people in Wigan on programmes designed to tackle anti-social behaviour and over a four week period volunteered for 120 hours on holiday courses.
As well as being presented with a medal by Wigan Olympian Jenny Meadows, Alex has been invited to attend a Wigan Athletic home game of his choice this season and enjoy a pre-match meal at Rigalettos as a guest of the Community Trust.
