Franco Di Santo explained that whilst the team are well aware of the threat posed by Everton this weekend, there is still a strong self-belief within the players who are aiming for their first home win of the season.
The 23-year-old hopes this weekend’s fixture will also give the team the perfect opportunity to put behind them the frustrations of last Saturday’s defeat to Sunderland, saying:
“Everton are a good team with quality players, but we have great quality in our team also and we’re hopeful of getting a result from the game.
“Against Sunderland we were unlucky not to get a result, and right now that’s the most important thing – getting a win and our first of the season at home.”
The Argentina striker came off the bench at the Stadium of Light on the road to recovery from a calf injury picked up against Manchester United.
He admits that whilst not being fully match fit he is ready for action if called upon by Roberto Martinez, saying:
“I’m feeling better; I wasn’t 100% fit for the last game against Sunderland so it was tough, but I’m getting closer to full fitness and if the Manager selects me then I’ll give everything to help the team.”
