Congratulations to Latics midfielder James McCarthy, who makes his first competitive start for the Republic of Ireland as they take on Kazakhstan in a World Cup qualifier, kick off 5.00pm, in Astana.
It will be James’ 5th cap for his country, following his debut against Brazil in March 2010.
Latics manager Roberto Martinez said: “It’s a landmark moment for James and we wish him all the best.”
Also in action for their countries tonight will be Antolin Alcaraz (Paraguay v Argentina), Maynor Figueroa (Honduras v Cuba)and Filip Orsula (Slovakia U21 v France U21), while Gary Caldwell, Shaun Maloney, Arouna Kone and Rob Kiernan are all in action for their respective teams over the coming days..
